Intro to Freelance Writing
Group Course with Michaela Trimble

The Intro to Freelance Writing course is taught in a group setting where you and your fellow writers share ideas and workshop them together. It's a place to get vulnerable and open in your writing process. It also requires a deep investigation into creativity and idea sourcing, which I find to be one of the most fulfilling parts! The course format isn't designed to teach you how to write. This course is specifically designed for writers who want to be published in magazines and digital sites and have little to no experience doing so.

It's mapped out as a start-to-finish journey to show you how the world of freelance writing works, from developing your own sense of curiosity and ideas to ultimately mastering the art of pitching editors. At the beginning of the course, each writer selects their target applications, and we work through a series of steps in order to inform how you can pitch these publications. By the end of the course, you will have sent out pitches to editors and will be equipped with the skills to do this on your own long after the course is over.

Kind Words from Past Students

"Michaela taught me more about pitching and writing than my entire Journalism MA Degree program. Not only do I have a higher response rate from editors on my pitches, but I've been able to work on building a sustainable writing practice that is transforming my freelance writing career. Beyond just writing, Michaela has also helped me step into my power by teaching me the value of patience. I'm so grateful to have worked with her privately and can't wait to see my first byline with a major travel publication come to life!"

Shivani Somaiya,
writer for Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, and more

"Michaela opened the door for me to step into my freedom, my flow, and gave me the tools to sustain myself on a path of creative living - for life. Michaela's supernatural way of teaching and her motivation and support taught me to do what feels good and tap into what I know. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher."

Catherine Tansey,
writer for Vogue, Wine Enthusiast, National Geographic, and more

"The multifaceted world of travel journalism is a tricky one to navigate — now more than ever before. But working with Michaela allowed me to develop the tools I needed to discover my voice, forge my path, and create a career I love. Michaela is one of the most talented people I’ve ever met, and her years of experience working with agencies, magazines, and freelancing has equipped her with a truly unique perspective within the travel space. She knows how to transform a passion into a rewarding profession and brings a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to breakthrough in this competitive industry. Her insight, guidance, and mentorship proved to be absolutely invaluable when I was beginning my journey."
